30 Second Smile is an electric toothbrush that is trying to compete with Sonicare and Oral-B by offering a lower price to clean your teeth and gums better than a traditional brush. The brush has bristles on both sides, which has made the toothbrush idiot-proof. We assembled it, put it together and give it a shot.

What Is It
Our first thought was that the thing looked a little scary. It has bristles on both sides that piston forward and back that brush your teeth automatically, which apparently will cut down on all those severe shoulder injuries and Tommy John surgeries that are caused from toothbrushing. The other claim is that you can now effectively brush your teeth in thirty seconds. The point is that in thirty seconds, it is just as effective as using a manual brush for three minutes, but it made us feel like we really needed to get value out of the two-and-a-half minutes of life we were now regifted.
Includes brush, stand, two sets of bristles, batteries and tongue scraper
What You Get For How Much
30 Second Smile is a battery-powered toothbrush that does not have a power charging station. This allows it to be cheaper than its competitors, but you do have to replenish the power source. When you order online, your package includes:
- The 30 Second Smile Brush
- Designer stand (not a charging station)
- 2 sets of brush heads: ultra-soft and standard
- Tongue scraper
- Travel Case
- Instruction manual
- One year warranty (void if water gets in the battery case)
The total cost for the basic package is two payments of $29.95 each, plus $14.95 shipping, so a total of around $75 for the full electric toothbrush package. This compares to around $140-$180 for the Sonicare FlexCare and around $160 for the top-of-the-line Oral B Professional Care Smartseries.
Who Is It For
30 Second Smile is not for someone that really needs the extra 90 seconds refunded to their daily lives, instead it is intended for people who want to ensure a thorough and gentle brushing without shelling out for the more-popular expensive brands.
30 Second Smile’s brush has bristles on the top and bottom and works differently from most toothbrushes in that you “bite” down on the brush and it massages your teeth and gums automatically. Since it is a gentler brush, this product is probably not for people with serious dental issues. Instead, it is for people who want to take good care of their teeth and maintain healthy oral care. It will not replace a dentist’s teeth cleaning and you will still need to floss and use mouthwash, but it carries the same benefits of an electric toothbrush. That is it is more “idiot-proof” and effective at removing plaque from gums and preventing tartar buildup and gingivitis.
How Does It Hold Up?
We assembled the bristles, read the manual, revved up the brush and tested it out. Check out our video review on 30 Second Smile:
Positives
30 Second Smile is a good electric toothbrush that costs more money than simple vibrating brush heads, but a lot less than more advanced oral care devices. It was gentle on the teeth and gums and after brushing, my mouth felt refreshed and cleaner than when I use a regular brush.
- In total there are six brush heads to clean teeth and gums from each angle
- Cleaned gums effectively
- Cheaper than similar electric toothbrushes
- Could switch to soft bristles that provided a gentle brushing
- Claim to cut down on gingivitis better than a regular brush
Negatives
The product was pretty intimidating at first. It looks like you’re putting some daunting machinery in your mouth and it’s tricky to get the feel for. Once we got over that first hurdle, we got good use out of it, but 30 Second Smile still has some drawbacks.
- Battery powered and the stand is not a charging station.
- Warranty is void if the battery case gets wet
- Gentle brushing is less effective if you are accustomed to more rigorous toothbrushing
- Does not replace flossing or mouthwash
- Tongue scraper is an ineffective piece of plastic.
Final Verdict
If you like electric toothbrushes, this is a good product. If you want to try an electric toothbrush, you might want to start with a lower-grade one and see if you can get used to it before building up to this model, but if you are serious about taking care of your teeth and gums, this is a good product. It might let you visit the dentist every eight to ten months instead of five to seven, which would provide more value over time. You can also try the product risk-free for thirty days and see if it is right for you. It takes a while to get used to it because you don’t physically brush your teeth. Instead, you bite down on the bristles and run the brush over your teeth and gums and it brushes automatically. This is a good electric brush that is cheaper than similar products and the 30-day trial makes it definitely worth a try.
How To Buy
You can purchase 30 Second Smile from their official site. There are two payments of $29.95 and one for shipping and handling of $14.95. There are also extra offers for rush shipping and bonus gifts which we would recommend against. Your purchase comes with a 30-day money back guarantee. The link is bit.ly/gvdUrh.
